Possible Mounting Bug

Post  binarybod on Tue Jul 20, 2010 6:59 pm

Hi,

I don't know if you have picked up on this bug identified by Suhanov Maxim of ITDefence.Ru

www.computer-forensics-lab.org/pdf/Linux_for_computer_forensic_investigators_2.pdf

It would appear that Debian (and therefore Ubuntu) based distros have a bug in the casper scripts that mean that under certain circumstances file systems can be mounted and written to on boot-up. caine would appear to be susceptible to this bug.

I picked it up from Forensic focus which pointed to this page which points to some proof-of concept files that you might want to have a look at.
